The staff agreement

El acuerdo del personal

Every person who works with Train 2 Reach students agrees to this before the first day. The job application asks you to read it. Pay, hours and the position come in the offer letter.

  1. Background check. I consent to a criminal background check, including fingerprinting where the district or the Texas Education Agency requires it, before I work with students, and to its renewal as required. I will tell the program at once if I am charged with a crime after my check.
  2. Supervision. Students are always in sight of staff. I am never alone with one student behind a closed door. I follow the sign-in and release rules: a student leaves only with the bus, a staff member, or an adult on the family's authorized list, whose identification I may ask for.
  3. Reporting. Texas law requires every adult to report suspected abuse or neglect of a child. I will report to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and tell the program director, and I will never investigate on my own.
  4. Safety and health. I know each student's medical, allergy and IEP or 504 information that I need for my group, I keep it confidential, and in an emergency I call 911 first and then the family.
  5. Student records. Attendance, participation and progress are collected because the grant requires it. I record them accurately and on time, share them only inside the program and with the Texas Education Agency and Navasota ISD as the privacy notice allows, and never post or discuss a student's information outside my work.
  6. Technology and AI. I am in the room whenever a student uses AI. Elementary students never use an account of their own. I follow the student agreement myself and teach it.
  7. Photos and social media. I take photos of students only for the program, only of students whose families said yes, and I never post a student on a personal account.
  8. Respect. I treat every student, family and colleague with respect, in the language they speak, and I never discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability or age.
  9. Equal opportunity. Byrd EDU is an equal opportunity employer. Hiring, pay and promotion are decided on qualifications and performance and never on race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability, age or any other status the law protects.
  10. Questions and concerns. I raise a concern with the program director, and if it is not resolved, through the complaint path on the about page. Raising a concern in good faith is never held against me.
